Banners, banners and more banners!
by Marc Levy, Signs360
In the vast and ever-improving world of signage, the banner application is everywhere. Office environments are making use of more and more banners in all areas, be they directional signs, or general promoting for the company as a whole.
I was impressed to walk into a South African bank the other day and notice a set of magnificent banners in conjunction with aluminium hangers. These banners were against the walls of the bank, utilised in partitioning. Interestingly, Perspex dividers were also used and illuminated in bright orange, in keeping with the colours of the bank, which are blue and orange. The icon used in the campaign was a famous soccer star hosting his country in the World Cup. The promoting of the World Cup in 2010 in the South African banking sector is an endeavour that calls for great marketing, as it involves the advertising of a “now product” during a very exciting, yet temporary period such as a global sporting event.
The opportunities that banners offer to the market place to promote products are enormous. The value from this kind of media and the returns one can get from it are very economical and cost effective. Getting your message across is what it is all about, in a professional manner, at the right place and at the right time.
Branding in banks needs to be improved worldwide. However, the more progressive and modern banks are certainly making the necessary changes. In that same bank, I was impressed to see the use of banners in conjunction with neon. The banners were attached by beautiful, practical hangers that presented the product right in front of the consumer. The images were unavoidable and thus highly effective.
There is a wide variety of possibilities and designs available to display your products via the use of the banner media. One example is high resolution printed banners on various substrates, which create an excellent marketing opportunity at a below-the-line cost. Banners can also be made out of all types of fabrics, cottons, polyesters and vinyls, or digitally printed on thick, transparent, static cling vinyl for application on windows in various industries.
But even more exciting than the broad assortment of these products is the fact that they all compliment each other: It is all about a package. Plenty of thought goes into branding and into the value of banners in a retail shopping centre, a corporate environment or a government market.
