Super signage for Sunlite Hardware

Sunlite Hardware is one of the most innovative hardware businesses in Sydney’s CBD and Bondi Junction, specialising in everything to do with hardware; from power tools, sophisticated lighting and electrical equipment to paint mixing, colour matching and houseware. Sunlite Hardware also stocks gardening gear, work wear, plumbing and drilling tools, building materials as well as key cutting services and appliances. It is a one-stop super shop for any hardware requirement.

Modernising the hardware business

Steven Czeiger took over the reigns of Sunlite Hardware, his father Fedor’s enormously successful hardware chain, in 2004. The transition from father to son seemed to herald an opportunity to introduce a cutting edge, modernised look and feel to Sunlite Hardware. This would involve a number of innovations, one of which would have to be outstanding, attention-gripping signage. Steven, having firmly established himself in the Sydney market as a formidable player in the entrepreneurial realm and awarded the ‘Retailer of the Year’ award in 2006, runs this immaculate, well-stocked hardware business in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

In a busy walkway area, metres away from the famous Bondi Junction Shopping Centre, stands one of the three Sunlite Hardware branches. Steven realised that he needed to convey the right messages about his brand to huge numbers of consumers who stroll past the hardware store everyday. What would make the prospective consumer survey and visit his store above all others that bombard the senses during the experience of shopping? The excellent location of the hardware store certainly contributes to its appeal, but location needs to be capitalised upon with eye-catching signage in order to create maximum retail impact.

The ideal retail sign solution

Signs360 were called in to advise Sunlite Hardware on how to amplify certain aspects of the business by means of a signage solution that would be installed on a heavy traffic walkway. Thus location of a store sign is just as vital as the location of that store, as inventive sign creation is what will invite customers into the retail space even amidst the buzz of the shopping mecca that is the Eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Signs360 rose to the challenge of a unique, sophisticated sign design that represented the proficiency and look of the company. The project involved the construction of a yellow illuminated sign for the inside of the windows, spelling out three important messages that may not yet have been absorbed or realised by the consumer: The first is that Sunlite Hardware offers a delivery service, secondly, that they have two full floors of all requirements and materials needed in the building trade, and thirdly, that they have a docking bay at the back to provide easy loading for corporate business. These three imperative pieces of information would be lost on the public unless communicated through effective sign introduction.

Both Steve Czieger and his father Fedor, the original founder of the business, were highly satisfied with the quality of the signage and with the sign concept that Signs360 devised and customised. In addition, the complete project was complete within a two week period; from design and manufacture to installation, ensuring a minimum amount of disruption so that Sunlite Hardware could continue with what it does best as soon as possible, while the signage that now represents it performs the imperative function of brand communication.
