Spectacular salon signage

Sandy Chong has owned Suki Hair Salon for 22 years. She has established two branches, in Paddington and Newcastle, and her reputation as an expert and respected educator in the industry is well-known.

Sandy has also been the winner of the Hair Expo Excellence in Marketing Award a staggering five times. Her winning combination is one of business know-how, creativity and personal attention toward her clients. The name of the salon represents its atmosphere; playful but with a subtle sophistication, and of course, unquestionable expertise.

Sandy recently decided that the time had come to conduct a serious revamp for her Paddington store, as the street on which the salon stood was busy, hosting plenty of traffic and also, a wide variety of other stores. She needed a look that would be able to stand up and compete with the global brands by which it is surrounded. She realised that the neighbouring retail stores had taken maximum advantage of their signage creations, design, location and uniqueness. International logos also play a vital role in brand communication, such as Puma and Diesel. Their mere presence on a well chosen wall has the instant effect intended.

For Suki Hair’s new look, Signs360 was called upon, recognising that signage would be one of the first steps in the revolutionising of any brand. The result was an eye-catching sign concept, with a modern feel and a beautiful ambience that could be tangibly felt when relaxing in the salon, enjoying one of its treatments or cuts. Signs360 constructed a custom-made light box designed by an architect in order to meet the specific needs of the salon. The sign consisted of a very thin, slick aluminium box, router cut with the logo, then spray painted in powder coating for longevity and exterior use.

Perspex letters were also router cut and mounted onto the sign to give a very slick and modern look. Window signage of the company logo was also applied to this project, as well as fascia signage to construct the corporate identity as part of the sign solution. Despite the challenges of such a sign board, the manufacture and installation was completed in record time and placed in front of this beautiful salon by Signs360.
